The Hoist is a device that has many
applications though primarily used to lift and lower the load by means
of a drum or lift-wheel around which a rope or chain wraps. The hoist
can be operated manually, electrically or pneumatically and may use a
chain too. An electrically operated hoist that uses a chain is called an
electric chain hoist. A hook is used to attach the load to the hoist.
In basic terms hoists are units designed to lift heavy objects and move
them from one location to another.
CBI Hoists
The equipment can range from a variety of different types according to the type of hoist, the location where the hoist is to be used, the item being lifted and basic purpose of the hoist. The hoists may at times include the components of the system itself, like pulley, wheels, cables, ropes, etc. while at other times, the equipment may include mounting hardware, hydraulic cylinders and other item to make the hoist usable. Many of the hoists also use some kind of pulley system.
The pulleys
are wheels specially designed to guide the chain and are usually mounted
on an axle to allow the wheel to spin freely. The pulley in turn can be
mounted to a motor that spins the unit to control the feed of the
cable.
Wire rope hoists
Electric chain hoist is the most commonly used hoist in the worldwide market these days. Many of the hoists are package hoists built as one unit in a single housing, generally designed for long life (like ten year life), although the life calculating is based on the industry standard when calculating actual life. Such type of hoist can be mounted to a trolley, which is a frame that features wheels that can move along the track.
Electric hoists
The hoist equipment need for such a set-up involved using the track itself, which is a heavy metal mounted high above the ground. The trolley itself also usually metal and features wheels designed to work in conjunction with track and mounting hardware to ensure all elements are stable for use. The pulley is usually mounted to the trolley which features a motorized pulley system that feeds out chains.
